A service that supports young adults into independent living has received the highest rating possible from Ofsted.
Staffordshire County Council’s Supported Lodgings service, which supports 16-to-20-year-olds who are leaving care and beginning the journey towards living independently, were judged by inspectors as “Consistently Strong.”
The rating shows that young people are having positive experiences and making excellent progress in developing the skills and confidence they need for adult life.
Supported Lodgings helps bridge the gap between care and independent living. The service recruits, trains and supports local people who offer a room in their home to a young person. Hosts provide a safe and supportive environment where young people can learn practical life skills and gain confidence for the future.
Inspectors praised the service’s leadership, management and safeguarding arrangements and highlighted the positive progress being made by young people and the support they receive to prepare for independence.
