Child on swing
Children from Marshlands were the first to try the new play equiment

Marshlands pupils first to try out new play equipment

Brand new colourful play equipment suitable for able bodied children and those with special needs has been installed at Shugborough's popular farm this week.

And to celebrate the arrival of the new apparatus, the tourist attraction has invited children from Marshlands Primary School, Stafford, to be amongst the first to try it out.

The innovative apparatus features a super wide slide which allows a carer and a child to ride down together, a set of swings which include a cradle swing, for a child to lie down in, and another which attaches to a wheelchair. There is also a roundabout with wheelchair access and a touch and feel play board.

Shugborough group manager Liz Carruthers said: "We are over the moon with our colourful new play equipment. We feel it is important that all children regardless of abilities should be able to play together. Sadly this is impossible at most playgrounds.

"Here at Shugborough we now have a fully interactive set of play equipment allowing all children to mix and have fun together."

Around 10 children with disabilities from Marshlands School will be testing out the equipment on Wednesday May 7 at 11am.

Shugborough is open daily from 11am until 5pm. To find out more visit www.shugborough.org.uk
