Lucky winner enjoys a shopping spree in Uttoxeter

Lucky Barbara Hutchinson flashed some cash in the high street after scooping £50 as part of the Shop Uttoxeter campaign.

Barbara's name was picked at random from the hundreds of people who have signed up to support their local traders.

The delighted winner celebrated her windfall by hitting the high street and picking up some top notch treats.

And after a good dose of retail therapy, she was able to put her feet up and enjoy a hearty slice of cake and a hot drink in Indulgence Coffee Lounge.

More prize draws will be taking place over the coming months. To be in with a chance of winning, people simply need to collect six stickers when buying goods from traders who are taking part in the scheme.

County Councillor Mike Lawrence, Cabinet member for Economy, Skills and Enterprise, said: "Barbara is the second lucky shopper to win £50 to spend in Uttoxeter's unique and interesting shops.

"The prize draws will continue to take place so the more that people spend their money in the town, the more chance they have of being awarded a cash prize.

"The campaign has proved to be a big success with hundreds of people signing up to give their local traders a boost."

Shop Uttoxeter was launched in September and has gone from strength to strength since then.

Hundreds of people have backed the scheme by becoming 'Uttoxeter Loyalists', more than 50 shopkeepers have joined in as well as all of the stall holders on the farmers' market.

The Staffordshire County Council co-ordinated campaign has also got the enthusiastic backing of local newspapers, the town council, East Staffordshire Borough Council, Southern Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce and local councillors.
