Burntwood youngsters can keep the boredom at bay with summer activities

Youth clubs in Burntwood are proving that there's no reason for young people to be bored this summer, with a plethora of activities available.

Staffordshire Youth Service, Burntwood INIT and Positive Futures have joined forces to host the activities which are aimed at youngsters aged 13-19.

They will be offering a range of entertainment to encourage teenagers to get involved in positive activities during the school summer holidays.

Trampolining, art projects and dance are just some of the sessions that will be available.

Positive Futures will also be running courses to teach 'Panna' football which is a new form of street soccer originating from Holland.

There will also be a series of trips Stoke plaza skate park, Alton Towers and the Snowdome, designed to keep young people occupied throughout the summer.

One activity sure to generate lots of interest is the BSM Driving School.  Young people will get the chance to see what it's like to drive, as well as being taught the dangers of drink driving and reckless behaviour while behind the wheel. This course always proves to be extremely popular with young people.

Staffordshire County Councillor Ben Adams, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture, said:  "With the plethora of activities available in and around Burntwood, young people certainly have no reason to be bored.  It's fantastic to see so many ways young people can get involved in positive activities over the summer."

Councillor Val Richards, Lichfield District Council's Cabinet Member for Leisure Services, added: "It's important young people have lots of activities to keep them entertained during the school holidays. This summer's programme of activities and trips has something for everyone and should help local young people to have a brilliant holiday."
