Getting the best services to you
The County Council's Corporate Review Committee heads up a number of scrutiny committees where Councillors work to help the County Council and other organisations improve - for the benefit of the people and communities of Staffordshire.
Today the Corporate Review Committee has agreed what areas of the County Council's work will be scrutinised over the coming year to ensure residents receive the best possible services.
Specially appointed groups of Councillors will be set up to investigate and make recommendations about the county council's work in four priority areas. These are:
- Sickness absence management
- Renewable energy projects on county council land
- Children's health
- Community and Learning Partnerships.
In addition, each of the Council's scrutiny committees has a plan for the topics that they will review this year. Take a look at these here.
County Councillor Alan White, Chairman of the Corporate Review Committee, said: "Since June all the scrutiny Members have been working hard to learn about the services they are responsible for scrutinising and to develop suggestions for work which will ensure we deliver real benefits for the people of Staffordshire. I think that we have identified some important areas of work to get started on.
As the newly appointed Chairman of the Corporate Review Committee I am keen to make sure that scrutiny is a key way in which Staffordshire residents and service users can influence what the county council does. If people have views on any of the issues we plan to look at please get in touch with the Scrutiny Team. Or, if there are any other issues that you think scrutiny should look at we are keen to hear your suggestions."
