| Director of Finance Andrew Burns talks citizens through the budget decision making process |
Budget consultation 2007
Staffordshire County Council is committed to listening to its communities and ensuring that citizens' views directly influence and shape the services it provides. This involves consulting with our communities on a variety of issues.
This is the fourth year that Staffordshire County Council has held an event that consults residents on the council's budget setting process. On Sunday 4 November 2007 a selection of Staffordshire residents were invited to take part in a one day consultation event which involved members of the public helping the council to set its budget for next year, whilst expressing their priorities around a variety of spend and save options.
Throughout the day members of the public worked in small discussion groups and carried out a budget model exercise to help them make some important choices about what their priorities are with balancing the budget and taking into account council tax constraints. This decision making process reflects the difficult decisions the Cabinet face when setting its own budget.
