Perfect patchwork for library children

A Wombourne community group has presented a beautiful hand-crafted to quilt that will be used by young children at the village library.

It has been produced by the Thursday Patchwork and Quilting Club, who have been using Wombourne Community Centre for over 10 years. It features characters from children's cartoons, farmyard animals and activity areas to encourage learning.

County Councillor and Support Member for Culture and Heritage, said: "We're extremely grateful to the ladies of Thursday Patchwork and Quilting Club for this kind donation.  Giving children every opportunity to play is invaluable and an important function of libraries. It prepares them for the future experiences, and develops their social and communication skills.  The quilt really will provide many hours of happy play!"

Ann Jermey from the Thursday Patchwork and Quilting Club, said: "We really hope the children enjoy using the quilt as much as we've enjoyed making it. The quilt is actually 80 different hand-made pieces stitched together."

The quilt will be used at the library's regular Baby Bounce and Rhyme sessions every Thursday.
