Share-a-lift's new ways to cut car jouneys
Staffordshire's online lift sharing scheme, www.share-a-lift.com has stepped up a gear to help cut down on unwanted, polluting and congestion-causing car journeys.
A host of new features mean the website now offers users the chance to find travel companions for all modes of travel.
Dozens of employers in the public, private and voluntary sectors are already signed-up to the scheme.
Whether you wish to walk, cycle, use public transport or get a taxi to work you will now be able to find others doing the same who want to share their journey. The matching facilities have also been updated to include people working shifts or irregular hours.
John Wakefield, Leader for Development Services said: "We hope the extension to the matching facilities will encourage more people to leave their cars at home more often and come to work by other means. By giving people the chance to travel into work with another person gives them a sense of security and a more sociable journey."
www.share-a-lift.com is fast becoming the complete travel and transportation website. A range of other services are hosted on the website from local travel information to live traffic news, journey planners and carbon offsetting schemes.
