Her Majesty's visit to Stafford and County Buildings
Her Majesty the Queen accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh has completed her visit to Stafford.
The visit included lunch at County Buildings. Afterwards Her Majesty was presented with a commemorative crystal glass bowl by Peter Haynes, Chairman of Staffordshire County Council.
The bowl, made by Georgian Crystal of Tutbury, was presented on behalf of the people of Staffordshire.
During the visit Her Majesty and His Royal Highness attended St Mary's Church for a Thanksgiving service to mark the 800th anniversary of the granting of Stafford's Borough Charter.
The Royal party then visited Staffordshire University at Beaconside. This included the opening of the newly completed television studio and a demonstration of computerised animation techniques.
The visit concluded at the County Showground, including 800th anniversary celebrations of Stafford's Charter and a chance to meet local people born in 1926, the year of the Queen's birth.
