Fostering and adoption goes on the buses
Staffordshire County Council's latest recruitment drive for adoptive parents and foster carers is going On the Buses with the backing of Blakey - the legendary ticket inspector from the classic television 1970s series.
The new campaign includes a striking poster designed to highlight the wide variety of children throughout Staffordshire currently in need of loving families and foster carers. They feature on the back of dozens of Arriva buses.
Car stickers displaying the same message can be ordered free from the agency's website on www.care4child.org
County Councillor Robert Simpson, Chair of the County Council's Corporate Parenting Panel, said: "Bus advertising has proved to be an effective way of getting our message across, so we are hoping to attract many new families and carers through the current campaign."
The bus theme also ties in with the Council's popular recruitment vehicle Reggie, which tours town centres throughout the year, providing advice and information.
Adrian Sewell, children's services manager for the council, added: "We want to encourage more people of all ages and all backgrounds to come forward. We can explain what fostering and adoption entails, to help them decide if it is the right move."
Actor Stephen Lewis, who played Blakey, the grouchy inspector in the hit TV series, has endorsed the advertising campaign. He said: "Blakey is over the moon that Staffordshire Fostering and Adoption Agency is now on the buses."
