Scheme drums up more funds for local groups
More than 40 schemes across Staffordshire have benefited from the latest round Local Member Initiative Scheme funding.
The list of projects supported by LMIS and approved on behalf of the County Council's Cabinet for May has been announced. Details are below.
Since LMIS was launched in 2001, more than a million pounds has been pumped into supporting more than 2,100 projects across Staffordshire. This has ranged from supporting environmental projects to helping sports groups.
Schemes supported this time around include £4,500 of funding at Barton-Under-Needwood Village Hall. The money will go towards the construction of a new parish office to improve access for the disabled and to offer an improved service to the public.
Another scheme to benefit is the Children of Audley Residents Association. They're receiving £750 worth of funding towards the costs of a bouncy castle, magicians, a PA system and toilet facilities for a fun day for the whole community.
Staffordshire County Council's Leader Terry Dix said: "There are a huge range of schemes helped by the LMIS. It's fantastic to see so many projects and communities benefiting - from Wetley Rocks Pre-School who are getting £500 towards the replacement of pre-school play equipment to Victim Support Staffordshire who are receiving funding towards the update of a telephone system to support victims of personal crime. These examples show just how much the LMIS benefits local communities wherever they may be in Staffordshire."
