Reading groups are a great way to meet people, share ideas, and discover books you might not normally read.

Reading groups - blind and partially sighted customers

Staffordshire Libraries are committed to making reading and information accessible to everyone. We offer a range of services and resources for customers who are blind or partially sighted.

Accessible reading formats

We stock:

  • Large print books
  • Audiobooks on CD

These are available to borrow free of charge for visually impaired customers.

eAudio and digital resources

Our growing eLibrary includes:

  • eBooks
  • eAudiobooks
  • eMagazines
  • eComics
  • eNewspapers

These are available through:

  • BorrowBox (Bolinda)
  • Libby (OverDrive)
  • uLibrary (Ulverscroft)

You can download titles to your device and adjust settings to suit your needs, including text size, contrast, and audio playback.

RNIB Talking Books and Braille

Registered blind or partially sighted customers can access the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) library, which offers:

  • Audiobooks on CD, USB, or digital download
  • Books in Braille

You can borrow up to six talking books at a time, completely free of charge.

Accessible technology in libraries

Library computers are equipped with:

  • Text magnification software
  • Screen readers
  • Customisable colour schemes and contrast settings

You can also request a large print keyboard at your local library.
