Shire Hall Gallery and Library staff have joined forces and are busily planning a family fun day on Saturday 29th April 2006 to celebrate Museum and Galleries month and the start of Stafford 800 exhibition which goes on show at the Gallery on that day until Sunday 4th June 2006.
The fun starts at 11am and runs till 4pm.

Where are we? Join in our competition to win tickets to Alton Towers. Simply guess which parts of the historic Shire Hall building the photographic clues represent.

Be a judge for the day! Step back in time and experience what it's like to take part in a trial that actually took place in the Shire Hall's historical courtroom. Sessions take place every half an hour until 3pm.

Storytelling Throughout the day, children will be captivated as they listen to Chloe from Midnight Storytellers as she tells folk tales and improvisation stories by using objects in the exhibition

Art Cart Do you have many pens and pencils lying around the place at home, no where to keep them all in one place? Our Art Cart will show you how to design and create your own pencil holder to take away. It will make a great gift or to keep for yourself.

IT Taster Sessions. Sessions at 11am - 12noon and 2pm - 3pm in the library express PC room. Visitors are invited to come and learn more about how the internet can help them to find out more about the past, the present and future with the help of useful websites such as Staffordshire Past Track, Ancestry.com and The People's Network.

Musical entertainment. Between 2pm and 3pm, on the ground floor of the library, students from Stafford College will delight and entertain customers as they browse the shelves for their latest read, by singing solos and duets.
County Councillor Maureen Compton, Cabinet Support Member for Culture and Heritage said: "This year's Museum and Galleries month theme is looking at the role of museums and galleries and how they connect to the past, present and the future. The Shire Hall building has a fascinating history and it is good to see that this fun day event is highlighting not only that rich heritage, but also the present day wonderful gallery and library services which are available for all to enjoy".
Museums and Galleries Month (29 April - 4 June 2006) - Museums and Galleries Month is organised by The Campaign for Museums, a registered charity, from the Museums Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) through the Renaissance in the Regions programme of the Arts Council England. MGM is supported by museums, galleries and arts organisations throughout the UK. The Campaign for Museums is working with Borders Group to promote museums and galleries throughout the UK during May 2006.
