During February and March, the Shire Hall Gallery is offering Key Stage 2 pupils from across Staffordshire the opportunity to participate in bridge building and design challenges with Cambridge based organisation, Architecture Workshops.
As part of the Gallery’s ‘Architecture’ exhibition, which runs from 11th February to 25th March, schools are being invited to come and use photographs, drawings and paintings from the County Museum collection, as well as works by contemporary artists as stylistic inspiration for buildings in their own model town. Pupils will also be challenged to solve geometric and mathematical problems as they work together to build a giant bridge.
The Gallery have teamed up with Stafford’s Ancient High House to create a full day’s programme of activities, with opportunities for pupils to have a go at wattle and daub building techniques and explore the England’s largest surviving timber framed town house.
Visits to the Architecture exhibition are free for everyone, but schools activities are charged at £2.50 per head. For more information, please contact Jackie Bradbury on 01785 278170 or visit www.staffordshire.gov.uk/has|
