Youth Arts Event
Staffordshire's County Council's Heritage & Arts Service will be working with the newly created Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS) to undertake an action research project to create a Staffordshire Youth Arts Network.
A consultant has been appointed to undertake initial research and consultation auditing current youth arts provision and identifying development needs across the region.
Research will include:

Conducting an audit of existing youth arts activity and organisations in the County;

Looking at existing models of youth arts networks in other areas to identify best practice and identify additional development needs;

Consultation leading to the development of a model for a Staffordshire Youth Arts Network, including recommendations about its practical operation, management and sustainability.
The process will be creatively evaluated and documented in a case study that will provide other Local Authorities in the West Midlands with a guide as to how to set up their own youth arts networks.
The development and documentation of a sub-regional network will aim to provide:

Increased capacity, through greater levels of support for professionals working with young people (Youth Service, YOTs, PRUs, Voluntary Sector, etc.) as well as arts and creative practitioners.

Improved practice, with more sustainable and integrated work beyond one-off projects.

An improved cultural offer for children and young people, with greater opportunities for participation at local level, as well as signposting to training and employment opportunities in the arts and cultural industries.
