The Artist Professional Development Programme aims to support artists from a range of art forms to develop health-based work.
The Programme will support artists to gain a practical experience of arts and health work. It is accredited through Staffordshire University and will include:
• A paid commission with a health based project
• Professional development through tuition and group learning
• Support from the region's most experienced health and development workers.
Who is the Programme aimed at?
This programme is an opportunity for arts, health and community professionals to meet and share experiences, learn and support one another whilst earning a professional accreditation.

Arts and Health
The arts have a long history in the act of healing. Healing, not only of the body but of the heart and mind is part of our whole lives, the arts are a crucial part of this process.
Arts and Health work has grown tremendously in recent years, with sophisticated delivery of projects having a marked impact on both communities and health services alike. There are many examples all over the UK (and beyond) of innovative and creative partnership working with Strategic Health Authorities, NHS Hospital, Primary Care and Mental Health Trusts, as well as statutory and voluntary arts and health organisations.
