Portraits

Exhibition Opportunity for Visual Artists at the Shire Hall Gallery, Stafford

Submissions are invited from artists in all media who create contemporary portraits & self-portraits for an exhibition in January 2014.

The exhibition will focus on demonstrating a wide range of interpretations of portraiture through materials and technique.

We welcome submissions of digital media.

Handmade 2013

Now in its fifth successful year, applications to our ‘handmade’ contemporary craft fair 2013 are now being accepted.

We are looking for a variety of contemporary visual arts and crafts designer makers to apply, and all art forms are welcome for selection. Applications are welcome from local, regional and national makers. There is a definite emphasis on ‘contemporary’ practice and the quality of the work submitted for selection must be of a very high standard.

Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent Young Poet Laureate 2013/14

Working with Stoke-on-Trent Libraries we are delighted to launch a new joint role of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Young Poet Laureate.

Who Can Apply?

The role is open to applicants 14-18 years who live, or go to school or college, in Staffordshire or Stoke-on-Trent.   

Requirements

Applicants are required to submit two poems.  One of these poems must be about a Staffordshire or Stoke-on-Trent location as a great place to live, work and visit.  The other poem will be the applicant’s own choice.

Applicants are also required to submit a list of ideas on what they would do during their period as the laureate.  Applications must be submitted to myself at the address below or by e-mail.

Timescale

The closing date for applications is 6th July.

The short listed applicants will be required to perform one of their poems and a poem of their choice on Saturday 7th September in Stafford.

The announcement of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Young Poet Laureate will be made on 3rd October, National Poetry Day.
