International Genealogical Index (IGI)
The International Genealogical Index (IGI) is an index to parish registers, largely consisting of baptism and marriage records.
It has been compiled by the Genealogical Society of Utah, mainly by amateur researchers belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Although not complete, it is a very useful source for family historians.
The IGI generally covers a period between the end of the 16th Century and the end of the 19th Century, although dates do vary widely.
You can access the IGI online for free or, if you prefer, visit one of the following libraries which hold the IGI for their local area on microfiche.
