Some information about our search system:
- Library Catalogue - Anyone can search for books, language courses, CDs, talking books, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and Playstation games.
- Borrower Information - If you are a library member you can renew your books, place requests, and check for requests awaiting collection. To do this, you will need your library barcode ticket number (membership number), and a PIN number. To obtain your PIN number please contact your local library.
- Reservation Charges - A Reservation charge may be payable on collection of your request. Please see Fees and Charges for details. Please check your reservations regularly. As soon as a requested item is available for collection, the reservation's status will change from 'Active' to 'Waiting Collection'.
- Overdue & Re-hire Charges - Videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs and Playstation games may be renewed for 7 days and will incur a further hire charge. If Videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs and Playstation games are overdue, a further weekly hire charge will be payable upon the items return. Also please note that overdue books will incur a daily charge up to the time they are renewed or returned to the library. Please see Fees and Charges for details.
- Renewals - There are a number of ways you can renew the items you have on loan:
- renew your books online, - access the facility at the top of the page entitled "My Account" and log on with your library barcode ticket number and PIN number
- renew your books by phone by calling 0845 3300740. You will need to have the items you wish to renew, your library barcode ticket number and your PIN number with you when you phone. Some items cannot be renewed by phone; these include itmes borrowed from outside Staffordshire (inter-library loans), items that are overdue, items that have been reserved by other library customers and items that have exceeded the maximum number of renewals.
- You can also contact your local library by telephone or email or visit in person.
- CDs - BPI Holdback - Please note: In order to comply with the law, newly released CDs cannot be issued from libraries until 3 months after their release date.
- Music and Drama Sets - Available for loan to choirs, orchestras, drama groups etc. Please phone 01785 278333 for information and advice.
- Friars Terrace Stock - Titles identified as being in stock at Friars Terrace could be in one of a number of locations. In addition, a large quantity of the stock has not yet been added to the catalogue. If you wish to borrow any of the titles listed for Friars Terrace, please contact your local library and, if we cannot find the book you ask for, it is possible we can find a suitable alternative.
- Stock on order - If you wish to reserve a copy of any "on-order" items, please contact your local library.
- Staffordshire University and National and Academic Library Stock - these items cannot be reserved online, please contact your local library
