24 Hour Museum - a gateway to over 2,500 UK museums, galleries and heritage attractions, with facility to search for exhibitions, trails, news.
BBC History - provides articles and features, interactive games and quizzes, also access to the BBC History Trails and to the People's War site.
British Association for Local History - contains some good links to sites such as VCH and the Oral History Society.
English Heritage - information on places to visit and events. Links to Images of England site, and National Monuments Record which gives information on listed buildings.
Historical Association - the Historical Association exists to raise the profile of history at all levels. It also publishes a range of magazines and journals.
Imperial War Museum - as well as IWM London, this also covers the Imperial War Museum Duxford, the Cabinet War Rooms and HMS Belfast.
Local History Magazine - lists national and local history societies by county. It contains excellent links and also a section on 'getting started' in research.
Millennium Maps - postcode searches for anywhere in the UK, for aerial photographs.
The National Archives - (formerly the Public Record Office) - National archive of England, Wales and the UK. Also provides link to the 1901 census site.
Revolutionary Players - the website for Midlands History during the Industrial Revolution and displays resources from archives, museums and libraries to illustrate the histories of Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Services - information on the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Services.
Staffordshire PastTrack - this web site has been developed to provide easy access to a wide range of resources relating to the history of Staffordshire. Resources include, Photographs, Film, Audio, Artwork and text, with photographs depicting all aspects of life in the county over the last 150 years forming the bulk of the content. There is also access to Ordnance Survey maps, both past and present.
