Grove Art - The Grove Dictionary of Art Online is an online subscription service offering access to the internet version of the 34-volume Grove Dictionary of Art, published by Macmillan.
This service is currently available for free on all computers in Staffordshire Libraries. Also, library members can log onto this site from home by using the barcode number on their library card, plus their PIN number. Please ask a member of library staff for further details.

Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology - Oxford's great museum of Art and Archaeology.
The Getty - pre-20th century European art, sculpture and manuscripts, and 19th and 20th century European and American photographs.
Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao - significant collection of modern and contemporary art.
The Louvre - the museum in Paris houses over 35,000 works of Roman, Greek, Egyptian, Western and Islamic art.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art - this New York museum's collection contains over 2 million items, of which 6500 are available to view online.
National Art Library - part of the Victoria and Albert Museum site.
National Gallery - includes catalogues and images from one of the world's greatest collections of European paintings.
National Portrait Gallery - the online database contains information on over 92,000 works, of which 51,000 are illustrated.
NECA - New Exhibitions of Contemporary Art - information on current exhibitions in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland.
Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam - best known for its collection of 17th century Dutch masters.
Royal Academy of Arts - has regular exhibitions, lectures, and talks.
Smithsonian Institution - with 19 museums and galleries, mostly based in Washington D.C.
Tate Gallery - the national collection of British art from 1500 AD, and modern international art. Each work has its own page of information.
Van Gogh Museum - this Amsterdam museum has an impressive collection of works by Van Gogh and other 19th century artists.
Victoria and Albert Museum - over 20,000 works and 26,000 images of visual arts can be searched via this site.

Architecture.com - Royal Institute of British Architects portal, with searchable catalogue.

Images of England - English Heritage site of listed buildings in England, as at 2000.
Ceramics
The Potteries Museum - museums and galleries in Stoke on Trent.
The Pottery Studio - over 7000 web pages of pottery, from major potters and many less well-known ones.
Design
Design Museum - an online research archive of modern and contemporary design, provided by the Design Museum, London.
Victoria and Albert Museum - based in South Kensington, the V&A houses the world's greatest museum of art and design.
Fashion
