Live music in the Shire Hall Library
Between 12noon and 2pm on Saturday 17th May, visitors to the library in Stafford's Market Square will be treated to a performance by Christina Thomson and keyboard player Sam Ryde.
The piece of music that they will be playing was written by local composer and librarian Andrew Baker and was inspired by the River Sow for last year's "Watershed Project".
County Councillor and Cabinet Support Member for Culture and Heritage, Maureen Compton, said: "This year is the National Year of Reading and May theme is Mind and Body. Going for a walk, just down your local path or riverside, not only helps to keep your body healthy, it can be an inspiring experience".
She continued: "Andrew's music is inspired by exploring local places, stories from local history and literary connections. I would encourage anyone in Stafford Town Centre on Saturday to pop into the library and take a few minutes to listen to a beautiful piece of live music written by a talented local composer."
Throughout the day, the composer himself will be in the library to give advice to people who want to exercise and get a healthy body and at the same time, learn and be inspired.
There will also be a display of books and leaflets about walking, particularly local walks.
