Lifelong Learning

Staffordshire's Libraries offer a gateway to both formal and informal learning whatever age you are.

       Computer users

Lifelong Learning is about learning for leisure and interest (informal learning), as well as for college or work (formal learning).

Libraries are the best places to find out about and pursue Lifelong Learning, because they have a wide range of resources, a relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff.

Libraries have:

  • Public access to the Internet and to the Staffordshire Gateway, on the People's Network computers
  • Access to a range of distance learning or other computer based  packages, through learning providers such as Learndirect
  • Access to a wealth of books, periodicals, newspapers and other materials
  • A variety of events and activities - bring your children to a library story-time, join a reading group, or perhaps taking part in a family or adult learning week activity
  • Information on nearby college courses or other course providers
  • Help with homework
  • Skills for Life
  • In addition, all of Staffordshire's libraries are now designated as "UK Online Centres"
