Fees and Charges

You do not have to pay to borrow books from a library. There are hire charges for other items.

If you keep library books or other items after the date they are due back you will have to pay an overdue charge or rehire charge.

  •  To renew items you want to keep for longer, telephone 0845 330 0740 (24 hrs) visit the online library catalogue (ask your library for a pin number) or ask at any Staffordshire Library.

Concessions

If you receive any of the benefits listed below you are entitled to concessions on fees and charges. You need to show proof of benefit to register for concessions - ask at your library.

  • Job Seeker's Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Severe Disablement Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Disability Working Allowance
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
  • Invalid Care Allowance
  • War Disablement Pension
  • Housing Benefit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Pension Credit
  • Minimum income guarantee

Note: Videos, DVDs and CD Roms are not subject to concessionary reductions.

Other information

  • 16 - 18 year olds also qualify for concessions
  • Sub-titled videos for the deaf are free to deaf users 
  • Blind, partially sighted users, or people with a disability preventing use of normal text ("print disabled"), may hire language courses, talking books or music CD's for free.
  • Overdue charges do not apply on mobile libraries or to children (rehire charges will still apply).
