Words and Wonders at Shugborough: Sunday 7 October 2007, 11am - 5pm

Super story-tellers, potty poets and comical cartoonists; events for children, adults and families, so come and join in the family fun

Words and Wonders promises to be a day packed with family-friendly fun and frolics.

Presented by Staffordshire Library Service as the result of a successful bid for Arts Council funding, the day's activities, suitable for all ages and abilities, will spark the imagination and encourage creativity through reading, writing and drawing.

And, at Words and Wonders, not only can you and your family nurture your creative talents, you can immerse yourself in a bygone era. At the Shugborough Estate, there is a lot to see, do and experience.

  • Enjoy a tasty literary treat with best-selling novelists, Judy Astley, Annie Murray and Phil Rickman
  • Spend an hour getting to know Nick Butterworth's, Percy the Park Keeper through story-telling, art and role play
  • Come and be enthralled by potty poet, Chris Whites' wacky characters
  • Join romantic fiction writer, Phillipa Ashley as she recalls her writing career with humour
  • Be creative with cartoonist, Andy Gilbert
  • Be inspired by Cheshire's Poet Laureate, Jo Bell
  • Get some professional advice in Jo's two workshops, Landscapes and Sense of Place

  • Watch and learn as our experts dress Victoria, weaving the story behind the clothes (and the lady who wore them) as they go

  • £10 for adults
  • £8 for concessions
  • £6 for children (aged 5-16, under 5's go free)
