What's on for the under 5s

You're never too young to join the library. Get a library card for your baby and open up a world of colour and fun. All our libraries have picture books and board books carefully selected with children under 5 in mind. Books that are lost or damaged and have been borrowed on a ticket belonging to a child under 5 carry no replacement charges. We want children to use our books and discover the joy of reading. And we don't charge for books brought back late.

Many of our libraries run storytime sessions for children under 5 years. These are all free, and designed to be fun as well as to help develop early language skills. Trained staff share stories and rhymes with the children and can advise parents and carers on selecting and sharing books.

Jiggle and bounce to rhymes and songs with your baby or toddler. Nobody is too young for these sessions!

All the sessions are free and last about 30 minutes.

Many of our libraries now run 'Baby, bounce and rhyme' sessions.
