Appointments
No appointment is necessary when visiting the Library to view material held within the collection. However, there is very limited space available in the Library's reading rooms so it is helpful if you contact the Library in advance of a visit to ensure that we hold the relevant records you require and to ensure that we are able to accommodate you on any given day.
However, if you are also planning to go to Staffordshire Record Office| during your visit to Stafford please be advised that they operate an appointment system and you would need to contact them in advance to avoid disappointment.
Parking Arrangements
There is no public car park at the Library. The nearest long-stay car park is off North Walls.
Registered disabled readers may be accommodated in the adjacent councillors' car park if advance notice is given.
Please note that from 15 February 2010, for approximately 18 months, the section of Eastgate Street between the end of Cope Street and the end of Tipping Street will become two-way. This will result in the removal of the parking spaces in front of the William Salt Library, and their replacement with double yellow lines.
Public Transport
Stafford railway station is approximately ten minutes walk from the Library.
As Stafford does not have a bus station, buses serving neighbouring towns and villages stop at different points around the town centre.
For information regarding travelling to Stafford by public transport please use the National Traveline| web site.
