The William Salt Library 135 Appeal

Patron : Colin Dexter

In 1872, 135 years ago, the William Salt Library was established.

To mark this milestone the William Salt Library Trustees have launched the 135 Appeal to raise £45,000 to ensure that the many precious, but ageing and delicate books are conserved as the heritage for future generations.

Books requiring conservation With much of the collection in constant use by researchers, it is not surprising that, 135 years on, many of the books are showing serious signs of deterioration.  It is therefore vital to ensure that the Library's collections are conserved to enable them to be used not just by present but also by future generations.

How you can help

You can sponsor a book for conservation, either as an individual or as an organisation, or you can make a straightforward donation to the 135 Appeal fund.
