Please note that, to avoid a wasted journey, we advise that you make an appointment to visit the office, ensure that we hold the records that you are interested in, and bring acceptable proof of identity and address for reader registration. Further details are given in Planning a Visit||.

Our reading room is open to all members of the public without charge. An Archive Service reader's ticket is required for use of the reading room. The link below provides information on how to obtain one.

Access & Facilities

Parking Arrangements
There is no public car park at the City Central Library. The nearest pay-and-display car park is in John Street.

Disabled badge holders may park for 3 hours without charge in on-street car parking bays and all day in off-street car parks.

Public Transport
Stoke on Trent rail station is about 1½ miles from the City Central Library. All buses from the stop directly outside the rail station serve Hanley City Centre.
