Our Partnerships

We work in close partnership with a number of organisations and  bodies within Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. These partnerships cover a range of activities including the development of our services to produce better outcomes for users, caring for archives and helping to promote archives in local communities. We also have a thriving and growing volunteer scheme which enables people to make a valuable contribution to our work at all three of our record offices.

The following are examples of our partnership working:

The Archive Service is jointly administered and funded in partnership between Staffordshire County Council and Stoke on Trent City Council

The Diocese of Lichfield to enable the preservation of parish records in Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent

The Victoria County History to publish reprints of their work and to co-operate together on the provision of study days

Staffordshire Arts and Museums Service to provide archive content for Staffordshire Pasttrack, a multi-media cultural resource for Staffordshire's heritage, and to deliver joint projects to encourage and support community history

The Trustees of the William Salt Library to manage Staffordshire's major local studies library and its collections

The Friends of the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service (FoSSA) to assist them in their advocacy for the Archive Service and in their work to encourage theuse of archives

The Staffordshire Historic Environment Record to provide annual study days  enabling local people to enjoy the combination of archaeology and archives and to disseminate information about Staffordshire historic landsacpe and builidings

Gateway to the Past, Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent's Cultural Heritage, our online catalogue, which incorporates not only the catalogues of our own collections but also those of the William Salt Library, the Staffordshire Arts and Museums Service and other organisations

Staffordshire County Council's Schools Improvement Division to help us to develop our learning services for schools more effectively and to support the National Curriculum

We also benchmark the Archive Service against other similar archive services to enable us to share best practice and to learn from each other
