Our Performance

Charter Mark - Customer Service Excellence

The Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service is an extremely busy one. We have three separate record offices: Staffordshire Record Office; Lichfield Record Office; and Stoke on Trent City Archives. We also support a family history centre at Burton-upon-Trent and we manage the William Salt Library in Stafford. This is the principal local history library for the county.

We believe strongly in high standards of service for our users.  Our performance at all three of our record offices is regularly monitored against the standards which we publish in our Charter, The Archive Service and You.  We have been awarded successive Charter Marks for excellence in public service in 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2008. This is something of which we are particularly proud and it ensures that our focus is on continuous improvement in our services for our users.

In 2006 and 2007 we were rated as a three star service in The National Archives self assessment of local authority archive services. This places us in the top 10% of record offices in the country.

A summary of how we have performed is available below with figures from the previous year for comparison.  For full details of our achievements in the year please consult our Annual Reports.

There is also a summary of our service wide PDF Download Icon annual statistics for the last three years.
