Online Developments Nov 2008

Unless you regularly go digging through our website to find out what's new you may not have seen the new pages that we have added recently.

The Archives Discovery Zone has three new items.

Dr Dianne Barre has contributed an article on her research into Staffordshire's historic gardens for Talking Points, highlighting how historical research is about piecing together information gleaned from a wide variety of sources, from both archival and non-archival sources.

Our latest featured collection is that of the Staffordshire Knot Lodge of Freemasons in Stafford.  The collection was recently deposited at Staffordshire Record Office as part of the celebration of the Lodge's 150th anniversary this year.  Some of the doucments date from the Lodge's origins.

Our featured document is another health-related item - a hospital inspector's report book for Staffordshire General Infirmary from the early 19th century.  The inspectors were subscribers to the hospital or local clergymen, acting on behalf of the hospital board, checking on the conditions within the hospital and giving instructions to staff.
