Project work

You are very welcome to visit our record offices to do research for your local history project. You can get advice before you visit us by emailing us.

You will also need to make a booking before visiting us, and bring proof of your identity when you visit us for the first time. Please look at the Planning a Visit section of this website to find the addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and opening hours for our offices, as well as what you will need to bring to prove your identity.

When you visit us you will find friendly and knowledgeable staff who will be pleased to give you advice.

Work experience placements

The Archive Service works with a number of high schools to provide work experience placements. If you are interested in history and would like to gain some experience of working with historical records please speak to the teacher at your school who is responsible for arranging work experience placements. Your form teacher will be able to tell you who that is.

Once you have had the opportunity to discuss this with your work placement tutor, either you or your tutor should write to Thea Randall, Head of Archive Services in order to arrange the work experience placement.
E-mail: thea.randall@staffordshire.gov.uk
Please note that we have a limited number of placement opportunities available each year, so please plan ahead to avoid disappointment.
