Climate and Settlement in Medieval Staffordshire, 16 May 2009
This study day, presented by the Archive Service and the Historic Environment Record, explores how climate affected settlement in Staffordshire in the medieval period. We will be looking at general patterns of settlement in Staffordshire and how climate affected settlements over time, resulting in drift, shrinkage or even desertion. The Croxden Chronicle will also give a fascinating insight into perceptions of the weather and how it was recorded. The final session will look at the rise of building in the early modern period and the extent of rebuilding.
