Jobs

Staffordshire County Council produces a Vacancy Bulletin including Social Care posts on a weekly basis, this is available on the Jobs & Careers section of the Staffordshire web, you can access this by the following links:

Please search for vacancies and save your search so that you can receive emails with future vacancies when they arise.

In addition to the bulletin, many vacancies are advertised in local newspapers and national press.

Please note: Within social care, posts are subject to CRB disclosure checks. As part of this, checks are made against PoCA/PoVA lists (Protection of Childrens Act/ Protection of Vulnerable Adults).

General Hints and Tips:

• Remember you will be selected for interview on the basis of your application form and supporting information. It is therefore essential that you read the job description and person specification very carefully, and match your information to it.

• At the short listing stage we look for evidence within your application of how you meet the criteria laid out in the job description and person specification. When writing your supporting statement please consider how your experience gives evidence towards you fulfilling the elements within the person specification, we require more than just a chronology of your work experience. If you do not show how you meet the requirements laid out in the job description and person specification we cannot short-list you for interview.

• When completing your application form remember to include any relevant experience you have gained, whether from the voluntary sector, school, work experience or other personal experiences. Remember relevant experience can be gained from a variety of places.

• Please complete full employment history since leaving full-time education on your application, including periods of unemployment, voluntary work and raising a family, etc.

• Please note: applications from internal candidates will be treated in exactly the same way as those from external candidates.  Therefore please ensure that all relevant information is contained within the application form, as this is the only information that will be considered when short listing.

• Read and check your application thoroughly for accuracy before returning it.

• Keep free any interview date given, as it is not normally possible to re-arrange an interview.

• Make sure you return your application form by the closing date. No applications can be accepted once short listing for the vacancy has begun. After the closing date, shortlisting will start.

• Ensure that you retain a copy of your application form to refer to prior to any interview.

• If we haven't contacted you within 28 days of the closing date you can assume that this time your application has been unsuccessful.

Any part of our recruitment pack i.e. application form, job description, person specification or guidance notes are available in alternative formats on request.

Interview Protocol:

If the post for which you are applying requires you to work with children or young people, part of our recruitment process will involve being interviewed by a panel of young people. Their views will form part of our selection process.
