Our service users and carers are at the heart of everything we do and our staff are our most valuable asset in providing an excellent service to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. In 2004 we achieved Investors in People recognition and we know that to provide an excellent service in a large county with a diverse population, we must ensure our staff are well trained, well supervised and well supported.

We are striving to meet the challenges that the white paper 'Our health our care our say' - have set. We have strong partnerships in place with Health and Housing Services, and the voluntary sector. Improving social care is the County Council's number one priority and we are strongly supported by the corporate management team, cabinet members and partner agencies. We have embarked down a road of significant change and these are exciting times as we empower our staff and managers to deliver the services that people want.

Our dedicated staff have developed many innovative services and some of these services have received regional and national recognition. We are now finalising our progressive new structure that will focus on the needs of people in localities - to find out more please read about our changing lives vision here.
