Open Door Placements

Open Door Placements are one example of how disadvantaged workgroups can be helped back into employment. They provide individuals with the opportunity to get back to work by offering unpaid work placements. These placements help individuals to update and build their skills, to gain experience and improve their confidence.

Open Door Placements can be from two weeks to six months long and are organised by Staffordshire County Council and our partner agencies representing disadvantaged groups. We work together to find suitable placements for candidates and then support candidates through the placement, making sure they are getting the development and learning opportunities they need to get back into employment.

Help and support

To ensure that our work placements are successful, we have developed a standardised framework and sample documents to help deliver Supported Work Opportunities. These documents can be found under Support Documents| and can be used/adapted by any organisation that wishes to implement a Supported Work Opportunities scheme of their own.

If you are interested in participating in the supported work opportunities scheme, contact us|
