Employer Benefits

As an employer it is important to see how adopting the Open Door Staffordshire Pledge and more specifically offering an Open Door placement will benefit your business.

By hosting a work placement candidate you will be getting up to 12 weeks work at minimal cost - you do not have to pay a salary. Those taking part in the scheme are fully supported by their referring agency throughout their work placement, they aren't forced to partake, they want to get back into work and are often highly motivated and keen to learn.

There are a number of additional benefits to work placements. Work placements can also be used:

  • To cover a vacancy during the recruitment process.
  • To cover during a busy period or for a special project.
  • To cover an area where a future vacancy may arise.
  • Pre-apprenticeship placement

Open door placements are also an ideal opportunity to tap into a pool of labour you may not have otherwise considered, especially if you are having recruitment and retention difficulties in your organisation. Placement candidates may possess skills and experience which could benefit your business greatly.

If you are considering setting up a supported work opportunities scheme in your organisation, take a look at our support documents| and framework which you may like to adopt.
