What is an Apprenticeship?
An Apprenticeship helps employees to develop skills and knowledge and work towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification, whilst being employed full time.
Staffordshire County Council offer the following Apprenticeships;
- Business Administration
- Information Technology
- Early Years and Childcare
- Customer Service
There are 2 levels of Apprenticeships these are the Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship. Both levels lead to a National Vocational Award (NVQ), Key skills Qualifications and Technical Certificate Qualifications.
Apprenticeship breakdown;
These are primarily aimed at people between the ages of 16-18 and allow candidates to develop their occupational knowledge so they achieve Level 2 NVQ.

Key Skills (dependant on previous qualifications);
Application of number Level 1
Communication Level 2
Information Technology Level 2

Duration of Scheme;
16-18 years - 15 months
19-21 years - 12 months
Advanced Apprenticeship breakdown;
Aimed at those between the ages of 18-24 who have achieved Level 2 NVQ and have the ability to develop in their jobs, and have a view to progressing to a supervisor or technician level job role.

Funding
Apprenticeships are for people aged 16-21 and are part funded by the Learning Skills Council (LSC).
