Equal Treatment

All of our employees have the right to be treated with respect and we are developing cultures which are positive and progressive and where difference is valued. We are creating an awareness and understanding of equality across our organisation by ensuring that training and development is an integral part of every employee's individual personal development.

We believe that equality is the responsibility of all employees and everyone can influence how equality is achieved within the County Council. We actively encourage the development of employee forums, so that we can work together to improve the way we do things.

We recognise that to understand the needs of the communities we serve and to provide first-class relevant services, our organisation needs to reflect the diversity of our County in our workforce. We are continually striving to achieve this aim and welcome applications from all sections of the community.

  • Information in Alternative Formats
All of our recruitment information is available in other formats on request. If you need a copy of this information in large print, another language or on cassette, please ask us.
  • Positive about Disabled People
We are proud to display the 'two ticks' symbol, which demonstrates our commitment to the recruitment and retention of people with disabilities.
  • Reasonable Adjustments
We will make reasonable adjustments to all stages of the recruitment process and to our jobs in order to make them more accessible to applicants who have a disability. If you need us to make any adjustments, for example to provide information in large print or to use a signer at interview, please ask us.
Staffordshire County Council is committed to ensuring that job opportunities are suitable for people with disabilities in accordance with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. From December 6th 2006 Local Authorities have specific duties to be "proactive in promoting equality for disabled people." This is known as the Disability Equality Duty and is as a result of the amendments made to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in the 2005 Act. As part of that responsibility, the Council works with the Jobcentre Plus Access to Work scheme to ensure disabled employees have access to reasonable adjustments in the workplace.
  • Interview Guarantee Scheme
As part of our commitment to the 'two ticks' symbol, if you are a disabled applicant you are guaranteed an interview, providing you meet the essential criteria of the job advertised. This will be outlined in the Person Specification for the post.
  • Equalities Issues/Problems
We take equality of opportunity seriously. If you have any reason to believe that your application has not been dealt with in a fair and equitable manner, please contact:
