Health Development
What is Health Development?
Health Development is about working in partnership with Staffordshire communities, cherishing their aspirations and diversity whilst making a real difference to people's health and wellbeing. It seeks preventative approaches that target people in the places in which they live, work and learn. It achieves this by identifying local health needs and effectively mobilising the resources required to meet those needs.
Our Mission
'Working with communities to create and maximise opportunities to improve health and wellbeing across Staffordshire.'
Our Operating Principles
Everything we do will focus on people's health, wellbeing, independence and dignity and will celebrate community cultural and social diversity.
We will also:
-
Ensure the work of the team provides meaningful health outcomes for the people of Staffordshire in the places that they live.
-
Strive to take an innovative and value for money approach to the work that we do.
-
Work with people and organisations to recognise and realise their potential impact on community health and wellbeing.
-
Provide every opportunity and support for individuals and communities to take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.
Staffordshire Health & Wellbeing Strategy
Staffordshire County Council, with its partners in the NHS, have a strategy to improve health in Staffordshire; "Making A Difference: Improving Health And Wellbeing In Staffordshire: People And Places".
Our strategic vision is to improve the overall length and quality of life across the Staffordshire population and to reduce health inequalities. The strategy, which was approved by the County Council's Cabinet in September 2010, outlines our major pritorities for the public's health in Staffordshire and how we will deliver those with our partners in the NHS, district councils, the private, business and workplace sector and voluntary and community organisations. We aim to produce visible results for the health of the people of Staffordshire over the next three years.
