Health Development 

The health and wellbeing of communities is influenced by many factors. This can include whether there are facilities to enable people to have access to green and open space, whether people live in homes which are warm and properly maintained and whether they have sufficient income to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Health Development  in Staffordshire

The purpose of  Health Development for Staffordshire County Council is to improve the health and wellbeing of Staffordshire communities. The Health Development Team recognises the need to identify and address the wider social determinants of health including physical, mental, economic, social and environmental factors. 

Health Development Team Objectives

The team  leads on and co-ordinates  health and wellbeing projects in partnership with public, private and voluntary sectors  to achieve set objectives. These objectives are:

To improve the health, independence and wellbeing of   Older People in Staffordshire.

To improve the health and wellbeing of Children and Young People in Staffordshire.

To improve the health & wellbeing of vulnerable people in our care and in the local community.

To provide leadership and development on local 'place-shaping' - this aims to improve the wellbeing of people and their local communities.

To work with the Safer Communities Business Support Team to help businesses maintain the quality of food supplied throughout the food chain

To improve access to safer, healthier and affordable food.

To uphold the law and ensure enforcement and adherence of food standards legislation and quality assurance of food catering provision.

To enable care settings and Staffordshire businesses to improve health through supporting them to achieve Staffordshire approved Health Award schemes.
