Introduction
The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 was introduced on 01st October 2001, and since this date there has been a huge change in Leaving Care Services nationally.
Through Care Structure
In May 2007 following a major reorganisation of Staffordshire Vulnerable Children's Services, Staffordshire Leaving Care Service became integrated into the a Staffordshire Through Care Service, made up of four teams located accross the county, each covering a defined geographical patch and providing services to young people aged 13 years plus, who are either Looked After, leaving care, or have left care.
There are four area teams covering:

Newcastle and the Moorlands, based at Newcastle

Stafford and South Staffs, based in Stafford

Cannock and Lichfield, based in Lichfield

Burton and Tamworth, based in Burton.
Each team comprises a Team Manager, Social Workers, Personal Advisors and a Family Support Worker. Central support is provided to these teams by a team based at Beaconside in Stafford, together with two finance officers also based in Stafford.
