Service/Provider: Action for Children Staffordshire Shared Care - Community Support Service (Aiming High Service)
Description:

Community Support Service – to support children and young people to go out in the community and access leisure activities.

When?

Dates and times will be agreed in consultation with families.

Service/Provider: Autism West Midlands Helpline
Description: Helpline providing advice and information about Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Asperger Syndrome or Autism related services in the West Midlands. 
When? Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 9.30am - 4pm. 
Wednesdays and Fridays 9.30am - 2.30pm. 
Closed evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Service/Provider: Caudwell Children - Key Steps Programme (Aiming High Activity) 
Description:

Drama Workshop - a day of drama, music, script writing and set design. 

Creature Comforts - close encounters with a range of exotic animals. 

Your Community - visit to a local Care Farm and a chance to learn about local food produced through growing projects. There will also be an opportunity to meet the farm animals.

When?

8-17 year olds. Parents/carers must stay for the first session but will be free to leave children for any following sessions. 

Personal care cannot be provided but parents/carers are welcome to stay with young people who need this support. All venues have disabled access, toilet facilities and parking. Sessions are staffed with trained volunteers who are there to support and supervise children at all times. 

This activity is free of charge.

Service/Provider: Courses for Horses
Description:

Horse riding lessons and training about how to care for horses and ponies.  The centre is approved by the British Horse Society and is the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) centre in Staffordshire Moorlands.

Description:

Activities for children and young people with a disability or additional need aged 8-17 years old living in Stafford, Staffordshire Moorlands and Newcastle.

Description: Short breaks and respite care for people with physical or learning disabilities together with their carers, families and friends.

Service/Provider: Donna Louise Trust Children's Hospice
Description: Respite and end of life care for children from all over Staffordshire and South Cheshire.  The hospice provides a safe, caring environment for children and young people who have a life threatening illness and their families.  A siblings group which provides fun activities and outings with children in similar circumstances is also available. 
When? The hospice is currently open 4 days a week. 
Where? The Donna Louise Trust Children's Hospice, Trentham, Stoke on Trent. 
Available to: Children and young people aged 0 - 19 years old who have a life threatening illness and their families.

Description: Support for people with Down's Syndrome and heart problems as well as their families and professionals working with them.  Support is available via the website, information sheets, newsletters as well as by telephone, email and face to face.  Conferences and family fun events take place throughout the year.

Service/Provider: Embrace Disco Night 
Description: Disco night for people with a disability.  All ages are welcome.  Drinks and snacks are available.   
When? Every Monday night, 7-9pm.

Description: After school dance clubs for disabled children and young people and their friends and families.  The clubs are a chance to have fun, make new friends, increase confidence and improve fitness levels.

Service/Provider: Home-Start Staffordshire Moorlands
Description: Home-Start Staffordshire Moorlands is a charity that offers support, friendship and practical help to parents/carers with young children in the Staffordshire Moorlands area.  Volunteers are parents themselves who visit families with at least one child under 5 years old at home to offer informal, friendly and confidential support to avoid crisis and family breakdown.
When? Volunteers visit for 2 hours per week at a time convenient to both the family and volunteer. 
Where? In the family's own home.

Description: Leisure activities for young people and adults with a learning disability.  Activities include day trips, bowling, crafts, computers, karaoke, disco's and social evenings.

Service/Provider: National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS)
Description:

NDCS is a national charity which aims to create a world without barriers for deaf children and young people.  NDCS is made up of families, parents and carers who provide emotional and practical support through a freephone helpline and other support services.  Free membership is available to parents, carers and professionals who support deaf children and young people.  NDCS can also help with welfare rights, benefit claims and with making educational choices.  Events and activities are free to members.

Description: RDA supports people with disabilities to horse ride to benefit their health and wellbeing and to achieve their goals.

Description: Help and support to parents and carers of disabled children and young people aged 0 - 25 years old in the Stoke on Trent, Newcastle and Staffordshire Moorlands areas.  Support available is on issues in schools and colleges, benefits and advocacy as well as workshops relating to disability and parents wellbeing.  Social events are also available to disabled children and their families.

Description:

Free after school football sessions for children and young people with a disability or additional need.

Courses last for 10 weeks and run at a range of educational establishments and community venues including mainstream schools, colleges, special schools and short stay schools.

Description:

Younger Mind - Staffordshire

Description:

Emotional support for issues such as bullying, family arguments, abuse, exam worries and depression.  The service is open to young people up to 18 years old who live in or around Newcastle and North Staffordshire, including Staffordshire Moorlands.  Support is also available for parents who may be struggling in their relationships with their children. 

When?

Monday - Wednesday 10am - 7pm.  Please telephone the number below to make an appointment.

Available to:

Children and young people up to 18 years old as well as parents.  The service is by referral only.  Referrals are accepted from the young person themselves, a family member or professionals such as a GP or Social Worker.  Consent for the referral to be made must first be gained from the young person.
