Councillor Susan Woodward, Cabinet Member for Older People and Healthier Communities said: "These homes are staying open so that we can continue to meet the needs of residents who have a need for specialist dementia care. This fits in with our plans to provide a new generation of care facilities and services that are fit for the future. Consultations and research recognised the specialist nature of the staff working with EMI at the homes that are staying open and that the demand for such facilities will only increase in the future and we have taken this into account.
Councillor Woodward went on to add: "We will continue to work closely with health colleagues and other partners to make sure that people's health and social care needs are met in a joined up way and that future EMI services will have the full resources to support them."
