Staffordshire Green Awards 2007.

Green Equals Gold in Staffordshire Awards.

The search is on to identify Staffordshire's sustainability champions - organisations and businesses in our community who are determined to improve the environment we work and live in. Many organisations and businesses the length and breadth of Staffordshire demonstrate considerable ingenuity, dedication and vision in taking up the challenges - bringing alive the business of protecting wildlife, cutting pollution and creating new opportunities for jobs current and future generations.

The awards reward and promote the hard work of local organisations and businesses which demonstrate an active commitment to good environmental practice and promote sustainable development. Organisations and business can contribute to a better quality of life by being concerned about their environmental effects. They can also achieve increased efficiency, reduced costs and improved competitiveness.

The Staffordshire Green Awards began life as the highly acclaimed Stafford Borough Green Awards. They  have been expanded to cover the entire county. The Staffordshire Green Awards are a two tier award scheme. The winners in each district are automatically forwarded to the County Green Awards.

There is an award specially dedicated to the business who contribute to the reduction of congestion on our roads. The TravelWise Awards recognise companies who promote car sharing, cycling, walking and public transport, production of a travel plan or policy, promortion of alternatives to business travel and the introduction of teleworking and flexi time. Changes to company car allocation, use of alternative fuel cars and fuel efficient cars can also be considered.

The category winners in the Sustainable Business, Sustainable Tourism, Community, Youth and Education categories will recieve a prestigous prize.  Cash awards may be available for outstanding initiatives. These awards must be used to promote and develop further sustainability initiatives.

The results will be announced and the results presented at a high profile event on Tuesday 11 December 2007 at JCB WorldWide HeadQuarters,  Rocester.
