  *Latest News - Due to unforeseen circumstances Staffordshire County Council has been forced to temporarily suspend the acceptance of textiles for recycling at the Newcastle Household Waste Recycling Centre. This service will be reinstated as soon as possible. Until then, textiles can still be taken to Stone or Biddulph Household Waste Recycling Centres.

We provide Staffordshire's 14 Household Waste Recycling Centres| across the County.

They are going through a radical revamp making it easier and easier for people to recycle an increasingly wide range of materials. The County is on target to hit a recycling rate of 50% in 2011.

The Waste Management and Recycling team also: 

  • Provides by contract disposal facilities for the domestic, commercial and industrial waste collected by the District Councils.
  • Provides and operates by contract, the External link logohousehold waste and recycling centres where members of the public can deposit their waste and recycle various items.
  • Operates a new trade waste centre at Leek where small traders can deposit their waste at commercial rates.
  • Administers the Recycling Credit Scheme for District Councils.
  • Manages the closed landfill sites still owned by the County Council to ensure the landfill gas and leachate do not pollute the environment.
  • Manages the landfill sites owned by the County Council and leased to private operators.
