County Ranger Service
There are currently 20 Countryside Rangers who oversee more than 2,500 hectares of country parks, picnic areas and greenways. Their work also entails inspecting and reporting on the condition of the Rights of Way Network.
Rangers also have a role in improving the wider countryside throughout the County by disseminating information and providing details of available grant aid for countryside improvement. The rangers are supported by two small works unit teams, (one in the north and one in the south) who maintain the country parks and access land and improve the Rights of Way Network.

Volunteering
There are many opportunities for volunteering to help with our activities. Voluntary Wardens give tremendous assistance to the Ranger Service with their work overseeing the Unit's considerable estate. If you are interested in volunteering please
download a Voluntary Warden Service Application Form here.
We also work closely with the Ramblers Association who undertake a considerable amount of work on the Public Rights of Way network ranging from the installation of stiles and kissing gates to the clearance of vegetation.
