Staffordshire County Council's Ranger Service aims to provide a safe, educational and enjoyable countryside experience for all visitors to our Country Parks, Picnic Areas and Greenways, especially school groups.
The activities are available at the following Country Parks;- Deep Hayes, Consall, Greenway Bank, Apedale and Cannock Chase.
At Cannock Chase Country Park, we have a dedicated educational building, the John O'Leary Educational Centre.
In order to give teachers an indication of the range of activities and topics we offer within the Country Parks in Staffordshire, we have produced a guide. The guide outlines topics and activities, which can be covered in Staffordshire's Country Parks, and their relationship with the requirements of the National Curriculum. Key Stages Three and Four have not been included as requirements from teaching staff for this group tend to be very specific and are thus beyond the scope of a general guide. |

Staffordshire County Council will provide a trained, knowledgeable member of staff, who is experienced in dealing with school parties. Staff will tailor your trip to suit your specific requirements by prior arrangement. Activities can be organised to suit the individual needs of special needs children.

Staffordshire County Council has a comprehensive Safety policy regarding school visits and Risk Assessments are conducted by the member of staff before each visit.
On arrival, the member of staff will provide a detailed briefing to teachers and students pointing out any specific hazards for that visit and will also outline to the students the behaviour necessary to make the visit a safe one. |
The guide has focused on activities for Key Stage One and Two. Each key stage representing a different age group.
The recommended ratio of adults/pupils is 1:6 to ensure effective learning in the Country Park.
