Consultations
We consult a wide range of organisations before we make a decision on a planning application.
Consultations
4.4.7 We consult a wide range of groups and organisations on all planning proposals before making a decision. The groups and organisations consulted will vary according to the type and location of the development. The comments and specialist advice we receive is used to help us assess the impact of the development, the need for planning conditions to minimise the impact of the development, or to identify reasons why planning permission should not be granted.
4.4.8 We aim to send out consultation letters within 5 working days of the application being validated. This letter sets out the deadline for responses to be returned.
4.4.9 When undertaking consultation on planning proposals we give consultees 21 days in which to respond, or 28 days if an application is submitted with an Environmental Statement. If a proposed development affects a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) then English Nature will be given not less than 28 days in which to respond. If significant changes are made to proposals whilst still being considered we will re-consult and give a further 14 days in which to respond and make any additional comments.
4.4.10 We maintain a list of all relevant statutory and non-statutory consultees who are consulted on planning applications...to see the list click on
